Join SWEP-Three Rivers Chapter to welcome Ellen Shultzabarger, Director of the Bureau of Forestry for Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to Pittsburgh. Ellen is the first woman to serve in this role since the state formed what is now PA DCNR, Bureau of Forestry in 1895. Ellen will join us to tour the new Tree Pittsburgh facility and Heritage Nursery and learn about the Tree Tender Program — an urban forestry and tree care course that teaches about tree health, proper pruning techniques and maintenance. We will offer guided tours of this former brownfield site in Lawrenceville that, thanks to green building technologies, operates with a minimal footprint, using solar technologies and river water for irrigation.
SWEP is excited to feature locally produced food, honey-tasting, and drinks. Attendees can purchase a Tree Pittsburgh glass to partake in seasonal offerings.
