Welcome new members!

Don't let the chilly weather fool you, it is in fact spring. This means that there will be more happenings for SWEP members. In preparation for the new season, along with welcoming in our newest Board Chair Katie Kovalchik, and Vice-Chair Gabrielle Stevens, the board has been busy updating bylaws, simplifying our committees and updating our website. We love to see more members engage and we are doing our best to make that as easy as possible! As we are all volunteers, we rely on our members to help keep things going and we want to encourage you all to get more involved as your own interests and schedules align. We are always open to suggestions as we engage with each other and our membership grows.

Board and Member Meet & Greet

Thanks so everyone who were able to join our board Meet & Greet on Tuesday, April 8th at Roland's in the strip. It was a wonderful opportunity to see a few new faces, get more familiar with our current board members and to learn more about how SWEP works. 

We hope you had fun - and if you did, encourage your friends and colleagues to join as we grow our membership!

Churchill Valley Greenway

Celebrate Earth Day (and month) with SWEP! From litter pickers to heavy lifters- all are welcome for a great big cleanup at Churchill Valley Greenway! Volunteers will explore every nook and cranny of the greenway to pick up litter near roadsides and valleys, and larger remnants of the land's country club past along the trails. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided. Participants must wear close-toed shoes and long pants and are encouraged to wear protective layers that can get dirty. Please bring a reuseable water bottle. There will be a restroom available. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. This event will take place rain or shine, but we will cancel in case of thunderstorms.

Carnegie Coffee

Start your day by hanging out with SWEP members. Our coffee meetups rotate around the region in hopes to make it convenient for folks to join us. This is a casual event is an opportunity to get to know each other as well as the organization. Come with mentoring questions, learn about upcoming SWEP events and volunteer opportunities, or just come to chat. We hope to see you there!

The SPEED Program was created to continue the DEP’s Permit Modernization effort to move further and faster in permit processing and keep Pennsylvania moving at the speed of business. Come and hear from Ramez Ziadeh, Acting Executive Director Secretary of PA Department of Pennsylvania, to get information on eligible permit types, professional requirements, and procedure updates.
