Katie Kovalchik
Katie Kovalchik is the Trail Development Project Manager at Friends of the Riverfront. She has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Penn State University and is a licensed Landscape Architect in Pennsylvania and New York. Previously, Katie worked for a private landscape architecture firm in Pittsburgh, focusing on parks design and trail and greenway planning. Katie has worked on a variety of riverfront park and trail projects throughout Pennsylvania. She believes that improving a community’s quality of life and creating vibrant places starts with providing people with equitable access to their open spaces, trails and riverfronts. Within every project, Katie focuses on working with people in their places to ensure the civic space is a true reflection of its community, culture, diversity and residents. So far in her career, Katie has been fortunate enough to work on multiple park and trail projects that are shaping and further connecting the riverfronts in the Pittsburgh region. Aside from her career, Katie enjoys exploring the sights and sounds of Pittsburgh, traveling with her husband, hiking with her dog and flyfishing for trout.
